Hal Turner arrest comments made

It's encouraging to see a line (finally) being established by authorities saying that enough is enough with the hate speech and the threats. In this case, Mr. Turner apparently crossed that line.
I think this is a reminder to those in the media and, more importantly, to bloggers, that we all have to be responsible in our rhetoric. Threats, innuendos implying violence and outright calls to action are not acceptable in this day and age, and everyone needs to be sensible when blogging or when speaking into a microphone.

The case of "Connecticut v. Turner" puts every user of the internet at severe risk. Turner is not a citizen of Connecticut and he was not in Connecticut when he published his opinions on his blog. Yet Connecticut is forcibly applying its laws upon Turner!
If Connecticut can apply its law to a citizen of New Jersey and jail that citizen over words published outside the jurisdiction of Connecticut, then any state can apply its laws to any blogger, website owner, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter or even YouTube user!
How would this affect you? Simple: People you never met, in places you've never been, can take offense to something you write on the internet and have you jailed in their state for it! Do you see the risk now? Do you understand how important this case is going to be?

Free speech does not mean you can say anything, and not live with the consequences of those words. Any speech that implies, advocates, or promotes the destruction of anyone is never free speech. It is hate speech plain and simple.
A hateful tongue, like Turner's, can destroy just as much as the hands that assemble a bomb, or pick up a gun and fire it, or throw a Molotov cocktail.

Turner points out that this case has severe ramifications for anyone who uses the internet. If the state of Connecticut can have someone in another state arrested for posting an opinion on a blog, then everyone who posts opinions on the internet can be hauled into court by anyone else in any other state.
"I do not know how the state of Connecticut deems to apply its law to me over something I wrote in New Jersey," Turner said . . . And this is why we need to close ranks behind him. Hal Turner is still soliciting donations to help pay his legal costs.

Let me say that I am not a "big fan" of Hal Turner. I do not think anti-semetic rhetoric or racial slurs help anything. It is because of those types of actions that often important information is ignored or overlooked.
But he does have First Amendment rights, and he is absolutely correct about the Second Amendment rights that promulgate the use of force when the government becomes tyrannical.

The issue remains: Is Turner a criminal?
The U.S. Supreme Court already has drawn distinctions between "fightin' words" and actual threats to someone's safety. However, it's up to prosecutors to show true intent that Turner meant what he said and said what he meant.
How far is too far might not even be an issue.
